JOB SUMMARY: The role of the Quality Inspection Manager is to manage the daily activities of the quality department through a team of quality inspectors and lead supervisors. This includes assisting with the organization and communication flow and coordinating of the department and other quality departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Quality Inspection Manager has many of the same responsibilities as a Quality Inspector Lead in addition to the following essential functions:

  • Develop, monitor and use performance measures to promote continuous improvement
  • Understand, train on and enforce applicable Operations and Quality Systems' requirements
  • Evaluate employee performance and follow MTI's disciplinary process if needed
  • Manage overtime requirements
  • Monitor employee attendance
  • Coordinate with Quality Director and fellow managers
  • Coordinate cross training activities
  • Supervise and train Quality Inspectors and Quality Inspector Leads when needed
  • Assure that MRP schedule is followed
  • Participate in team management with Director and act as Director when assigned
  • Instruct, teach and answer questions of Quality Inspection throughout the day and during quality inspection
  • Manage and assist coworkers in quality inspection
  • Complete and edit paperwork before product is shipped
  • Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS:

  • Technical skills in materials, management and production scheduling
  • Knowledge of mylars and hand tools, such as calipers, micrometers and protractors
  • Understanding of blueprints, process specifications, aircraft structural and system installations.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use time tracking programs, such as VISUAL manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of A59100
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
  • Working knowledge of MTI's traveler (router, bill of materials, etc.)
  • Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player
  • Understand and obey safety requirements
  • Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
  • Able to understand and communicate in English
  • Working knowledge of Employee Handbook

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Four years experience in a Quality role. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for up to 50 percent of this requirement.

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience helpful. Experience in Manufacturing and management settings helpful.
