ABOUT THE COMPANY: Metalcraft Technologies is a full-service, vertically integrated, aerospace components manufacturer. We fabricate sheet metal parts, machine precision parts, process/finish parts, and build both major and minor assemblies.

Job Summary:  The Soft Tooling Fabricator/Toolmaker fabricates soft tooling used for layout, drilling, routing, overlays, contour insepction, periphery inspection made from fiberglass and resin, plastics and other soft tooling media. Full time position for DAY shift Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm.

Essential Functions: 

  • Ability to read and understand basic blue prints
  • Ability to fabricate soft tooling 
  • Requires lay-up, shaping, hand working, and trimming composite materials to conform to 3D design, blue prints and/or sketches and hold/maintain the required blue print tolerances.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, pain thickness gauges, and tape measure
  • Ability to use all tool fabricating equipment such as: saws, grinders, drills, etc.
  • Fabricates template type tooling for production parts to customer supplied information
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine required machines and tools to be used to fabricate parts
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures, and recommends design modificiations regarding construction and functionality. 


  • Follow shop floor planning and oral instructions from supervisors
  • Effectively communicate
  • Requires lay-up, hand working, and trimming composite materials 
  • Able to lift 30 pounds or more.
  • Able to interpret and read blue prints.
  • Past experience using calipers and micrometers working with close tolerances is helpful.
  • Basic math and computer skills required
  • Ability to operate equipment needed to perform duties/work.
  • Past experience with TIG, MIG, and ARC welding with aluminum and steel preferred.
  • Past manufacturing experience and/or previous manufacturing with aerospace is helpful.



Diploma or GED equivalent. 6-12 months work experience is preferred.
