ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Metalcraft Technologies is a full-service, vertically integrated, aerospace components manufacturer. We fabricate sheet metal parts, machine precision parts, process/finish parts, and build both major and minor assemblies. Located in Cedar City, UT.

JOB SUMMARY: Create and improve programs for multi axis CNC mills and lathe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Determine the sequence of machine operations, and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine work pieces into the desired shapes
  • Revise programs to eliminate errors, and retest programs to check that problems have been solved
  • Ensure programs run efficiently and that machining time per part is minimized
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds and feed rates
  • Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications
  • Write programs in the language of a machine's controller and store programs on appropriate computer devices
  • Effectively coordinate with machine operators to resolve issues and maximize productivity
  • Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of ANSI-Y-14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Ability to read and understand basic blue prints and sketches and follow verbal directions
  • Ability to use calipers and micrometers
  • Working knowledge of MTI's traveler (router, bill of materials, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of drawings, symbols, GD&T, tolerances and common terminology
  • A comprehensive understanding of feeds and speeds for end mills, drills, reamers, saws, taps, etc. for aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, and inconel alloys.
  • Capable of visualizing complex three dimensional parts and determining the order in which features should be machined
  • Working knowledge of scrap and rework requirements when discovered
  • Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player
  • Understand and obey safety requirements
  • Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
  • Able to understand and communicate in English
  • Working knowledge of Employee Handbook

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two years programming CNC mill or lathe.

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS: Associate's degree or education in computer science, computer programming or general programmer.
