 JOB SUMMARY: The role of the Heat Treat Technician is to heat treat, rack and clean aluminum per customer specifications and MTI specifications. Perform pyrometry test per customer specifications and MTI specifications.


  • Heat treat parts per shop router
  • Run several timed operations at the same time
  • Load and unload parts to and from ovens
  • Wash Glycol off of the parts after quench
  • Rack parts to allow proper air circulation
  • Clean parts per customer specifications
  • Calibrate solution oven chart recorders
  • Set oven temperature controllers and overtemp controllers
  • Monitor Glycol quench concentrations and all quench temperatures
  • Store parts in freezer as required
  • Check and straighten random sample of parts as required
  • Correctly document routers, heat treat logs and process recorder charts
  • Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Working knowledge of material (hot rolled, aluminum, etc) properties
  • Ability to read and understand basic blue prints
  • Basic computer skills needed
  • Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Working knowledge of MTI's traveler (router, bill of materials, etc.)
  • Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player
  • Understand and obey safety requirements
  • Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
  • Able to understand and communicate in English
  • Working knowledge of Employee Handbook

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Less than 12 months working in fabrication.

EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS: High school diploma or GED.
